The Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (German: Max-Planck-Institut für Polymerforschung) is a scientific research institute located in Mainz, Germany. It concentrates on foundational research on macromolecular materials. The institute was founded in 1983. It is one of 80 institutes in the German Max Planck Society (Max Planck Gesellschaft).
The institute has six research groups on synthetic chemistry, solid-state chemistry, polymer physics, polymer spectroscopy, material science, and polymer theory.
On December 1, 2006 the MPI-P had 509 employees, 131 of them were scientists and 163 were PhD candidates.[1]
The International Max Planck Research School for Polymer Materials is a graduate program offering a Ph.D. The school is run in cooperation with the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz.
